Detroit Auto Show: Honda Urban SUV Concept Points to Production Model

Honda doesn't really do concept vehicles without having some intent to make a production car in the near future. Although the Urban SUV Concept will win no accolades for its unimaginative name, it'll probably be a big hit when it goes into production at the end of the year.

The compact crossover rides atop the popular Honda Fit platform and will be produced alongside that car in Mexico. Although Honda didn't discuss powertrain options, we're expecting a direct-injection version of the Fit's 1.4-liter four-cylinder. After styling tweaks like realistic headlights and wheels, the first models will go on sale in Japan at the end of the year, with American deliveries starting shortly thereafter.
